Zoe Saldana was born on the 19th of June, 1978, in Passaic, New Jersey, to Asalia Nazario and Aridio Saldana. Her father was Dominican and her mother is Puerto Rican. Her parents raised her within Queens, New York. After she turned 10 years old, she and her parents relocated to the Dominican Republic. They lived in the Dominican Republic for seven more years. Zoe's interest in dance was spurred by the time they lived in the Dominican. Zoe started her dance training through ECOS Espacio de Danza Dance Academy. Training was not only an excellent way to exercise this eager young person, but was also an excellent preparation for her acting career.
